Ready
to open doors?

The reasons for choosing psychotherapy are both varied and deeply personal.

I'm here to support you – and help you navigate your own path.

ABOUT ME

Your individual requirements are central to everything I do. Whether we are a good fit is less about my CV and more than anything else about the connection that we build during a face-to-face meeting. And this is precisely why it makes sense that our initial consultation is in-person. I offer a safe space where you can feel understood and at ease. Together, we will explore whether I am the right person to accompany you on your journey.

I am Patrizia Exenberger, a systemic psychotherapist in training under supervision, guiding individuals as they gain an understanding of their own unique life circumstances and develop new ways of approaching specific situations. With empathy, clarity and a direct approach, I create a secure environment for change to happen. In my practice, I blend well-founded systemic expertise with theoretical and practical elements from other established methods.

My background

Ready to pursue your goals?

SYSTEMIC THERAPY

Even the initial, no-obligation meeting can go a long way towards clarifying general questions. My clients are not obligated to enter into any commitment whatsoever.

Systemic therapy – also known as systemic individual, couples and family therapy – considers individuals within the context of their social environment. Rather than being seen in isolation, challenges are viewed in terms of how interactions within families, friendships, workplaces, or schools contribute to the emergence of symptoms. And instead of searching for causes, the focus is on working together to uncover the function that symptoms serve within a system. Looking beyond linear cause-and-effect perspectives, systemic therapy places the emphasis on reciprocal and circular connections.

GUIDELINES

In psychotherapy, successful outcomes are largely predicated on the quality of the relationship between client and therapist – in fact, it is one of the most critical factors. While professional expertise is essential, clients can only achieve their goals in a relationship that is marked by empathy, authenticity, respect and mutual appreciation – the framework for creating a safe space where transformation becomes possible in the first place.

My background

I began my professional career while still studying business and economics. For 20 years, I worked as a strategy and communications consultant both in Austria and abroad. Through my wide-ranging experiences in marketing, advertising, design, leadership and consultancy, I have developed a deep understanding of organisations and human needs.

At this point you might be wondering, “What does this have to do with psychotherapy?”. In my previous work, I collaborated with clients to create campaigns – essentially, solutions. It was about bringing order to chaos for clients, re-organising situations meaningfully and fostering new associations. During this process, complexity is simplified – and it is precisely these kinds of newfound insights that can be integrated into daily life in a practical, easier and more fulfilling way.

And in psychotherapy, too, it’s about finding solutions. Solutions for my clients. Solutions for your challenges or for navigating diagnoses. The secret is to develop these solutions together.

Guidelines

Process

In the initial consultation, the focus is on getting to know each other. You can share your concerns, goals and expectations, as well as ask me questions to help you reach a decision. For my part, I will also provide a brief insight into my approach and the framework of psychotherapy. Discussing your questions and the topic(s) at hand helps bring clarity and allows you to form an impression of my methods. This first session is all about determining whether you feel comfortable and supported, and would like to embark upon on a therapeutic journey together.

Duration

As short as possible, as long as necessary: even a few sessions can make a big impact. We regularly evaluate the therapy process together. The intervals between sessions are agreed on a case-to-case basis.

Cancellation policy

Your therapy space and session time are reserved for you. Booked appointments can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours in advance. After that, the full fee applies. Please note that it will not be possible to extend the session in case of late arrival. If I need to cancel, I will offer you my earliest available upcoming appointment slot as a replacement.

Confidentiality

Absolute confidentiality is a given – and a legal requirement. Everything we discuss in our sessions is treated with the utmost discretion to ensure a safe space for psychotherapy and to foster the level of trust that is essential to a successful client-therapist relationship. It goes without saying that everything you’ve shared remains strictly confidential – including after the therapy has concluded.

What does “in training under supervision” mean?

As a “psychotherapist in training under supervision”, I am formally authorised by a recognised training institution – in my case, the Austrian Association for Systemic Therapy and Systemic Studies (ÖAS) – through a certificate confirming my professional and methodological competence to treat clients. In this – final – phase of my training, I am closely guided by experienced supervisory therapists.

Who is systemic therapy for?

Systemic therapy is suitable for people of all ages facing challenges in various areas of life. It is particularly helpful if you are looking for support with:

Relationships

Whether you are looking for support when it comes to strengthening a partnership, fostering a fulfilling intimate life, navigating sensitive fertility issues, resolving family conflicts, or managing separations – I will support you through all phases of interpersonal connections.

Mental health challenges

We will work together to find paths to greater well-being in connection with anxiety, compulsions, depression, eating disorders, sleep disorders, or other psychological and psychosomatic concerns.

Work, training and education

Stress, burnout, bullying, procrastination, or workplace conflicts can impact both professional and personal life – I am here to help you achieve a healthier balance.

Acute crises

Life changes such as illness, grief, job loss, or traumatic experiences often require immediate, targeted support to help restore stability.

Process

Initial consultation

Getting to know one another, building trust, exploring concerns. We meet for the first time and you outline the situation that you are looking for support with. Then we discuss whether systemic therapy is the right approach for you – and whether you can envision navigating the journey ahead with me at your side.

Collaborative goal setting

What is it that you want to change? What are your wishes and expectations? Together, we will define your goal – or goals.

Support navigating the process

Begleitung und Unterstützung im Veränderungsprozess. Ich unterstütze Sie bei der Umsetzung Ihrer Ziele. Es werden Ressourcen aktiviert, neue Perspektiven entwickelt und Lösungen erarbeitet.

Ongoing evaluation of progress and changes

Regelmäßige, gemeinsame Evaluation Ihrer Fortschritte und Veränderungen. Der Prozess ist dynamisch: Bei Schwierigkeiten und Rückschlägen werden laufende Anpassungen vorgenommen.

Conclusion

Securing therapy outcomes and planning next steps. We work together to ensure that changes can be sustained in everyday life.
